This stuff is kinda tasty, stays fresh for a long time, and packs small.I suggest it for any survival kit where space is limited but still available. In other words, get cheaper bulkier stuff for your home. (Mountain House Hardtack is good there, along with some peanut butter and canned goods). This is for your car, boat, plane, or office. It's standard issue in many lifeboats. It does not require cooking and is moist enough so that it's not thirst provoking. There are a number of listings here on Amazon, with a number of sizes, so compare before you buy. *WARNING!* Contains coconut, and not just a trace. Do NOT buy or consume if you have coconut allergies! This is SURVIVAL food. Not even in the same class as fast food, taste wise. It's not horrible tasting but it is bland with a firm but crumbly cookie/shortbread texture. The taste is on the bland side, again sort of like shortbread with a slight lemon taste. So keep your expectations aligned with what it is. This is for the once in a lifetime when the SHTF. Throw it in your car, boat and wilderness pack and it will be ready when there is nothing else to eat to keep you alive. If you think you only need 72 hour emergency rations, you'd be better off buying packaged/canned store bought food and rotate it out every 6 months to a year. I wanted to try them so my son and I gave them a try and they were fairly good tasting but very dry as one would expect from something like this so keep some water on you and a water filter might be a good idea as well because you never know... I would buy this again... |
